Are you looking for a used toyota camry?

Q: Should I get a used Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, or Hyundai Sonata?
I went to three used dealerships today and got the lowest price the dealer would give me on the ones I liked. They all have clean Carfax reports. I have a 1995 Toyota Camry with 212k miles on it that needs replacing. I told them my budget was $14 thousand max but the Honda guy didn’t really listen. The prices are without tax/title.

1. 2006 Honda Accord- 22k miles – $14,670
2. 2005 Toyota Camry – 48,000 miles – $13,990
3. 2006 Hyundai Sonata – 34,000 miles – $13,688

They are all fairly basic models with cd player, power windows and locks, and AC and other normal things. The Sonata is a V6 but the others are 4 cylinders.

I plan to have the car till 200,000 miles again. I’m looking for the car that will last the longest at the best price.

Thanks in advance for your input.

A: Tell that honda dealer again when you test drive the Camry to his dealership that you are serious about buying a car. That will get his attention and maybe get you a better deal. Good luck!!!

Q: Which is better a used 2005 toyota camry, or a used 2005 corolla LE?
I am turning 16 soon and ive researched cars trying to find what would be best for my first car and ive narrowed it down to either the 2005 camry or 2005 corolla LE(both used), i was wondering what others’ opinions are on which is better. thanks

A: If your tall and like to have room, than go for the camry, the corolla is small and doesn’t really fit for tall people. i would choose the camry way over the corolla. camry looks way better than corolla, in my opinion.

Q: We have bought a 1993 Toyota Camry used. We have been thinking?
about replacing the struts. They are fairly new. You can feel every bump. What kind of struts would give a softer ride? The ones on there now are Penske.

A: Struts are not an inexpensive item to have replaced at a shop. I would reccommend kyb’s on that car, to do four of them installed with a four wheel alignment afterwards at a shop would run you around 900 dollars.

Q: whats a good priice 4 a 06-07 used toyota camry?
i need a new car and i want a camry…since i’m buying my first car i want it used but a nice one =)

A: Check kbb.com and find out how mush it cost.

Q: New Chevy Cobalt or used Toyota Camry? Close in price?
I’m looking at a brand new Chevy Cobalt. There are incentives right now that will bring the price to about $12,000 brand new. I am also looking at a 5 year old Camry for about $13,000. Do not know what to do.

A: For the same price as a Cobalt, you could have a new Hyundai Elantra, and it’s a better car.
The Cobalt is junk, which is why Chevy is replacing it with the Cruze for 2011.

Q: If you have a toyota camry 1998 or close, how many miles is this car good for?
I’m about to buy a used toyota camry 4 Dr LE Sedan 120k 1998, so i was wondering how good this car is, so if you have one, how many miles on you camry and do you recomended. All i care to know is if this car is going to last if i take good care of it?

A: I had a 98 Camry, it had 220,000 miles and probably at least 100,000 more but it got totaled in an accident. It required only minor repairs such as replacing the thermostat, vacuum modulator, upper strut mounts, timing belt and brake pads. Overall very good car. Yours at 120k should have alot of miles left.

Q: Used 2009 Toyota Camry LE for $16300, 15k miles, clean title. Good deal?
A friend of mine is considering to buy a used camry for $16300. It has about 15k miles on it and the title is clean. It has Automatic transmission and is the very basic trim (LE). Car is in good condition. To the car experts out there, is this a good deal? He has seen the KBB value but wants a second opinion.

A: Yes thats a great deal…..just have it inspected by a dealer, especially the pedals…..A friend of mine just recently purchased a 2008 Toyota Camry from a private owner. She immediately took it to the dealer and had it inspected. The dealers are very well cooperating now a days thanks to the recall, she had the whole thing done for free.

Q: What is the fuel consumption of 1993 model Toyota Camry?
I just bought a fairly used toyota camry 1993 and would like to compare the fuel consumption with other cars.
I need the fuel consumption in l/100km.

A: 4 cylinder prob. mid to high 20’s, 6 cylinder low 20’s

Q: Is there any used 2007 Toyota Camry SE for $13,000 or less and have less then 35,000 miles on it that on sale?
I’m looking for that type of car. I can’t find anything, so please let me know if you know anything about that car. THANK!

A: 2007 Toyota Camry SE, < 35,000 miles for <= $13,000

I suppose all inclusive of tax & title?

NOPE!

You also have to consider transmission, motor, Seller (Dealer or Private Seller), Equipment (Accessories), Location, etc…

Look here to get an idea about used car values!

http://www.kbb.com/

Reliability Reviews/Ratings

http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/bestbet/articles/

Just curious, how did you come with that number, $13,000 or less?

Q: Which should I buy, a $16700 used 2007 Toyota Camry w/ 39000 mi on it, or a $10,000 Camry w/ 100000 mi on it?
I have heard that a Toyota Camry can run for around 300,000 miles. I want the best value for my $$$, but I don’t want to buy a car too cheap that will break down.

A: Hmm that’s a tough one. The bad thing about getting a car that is over 100.000 miles is that’s the time when you will need to start replacing parts. I would probably get it tho because it is cheaper and you will have extra money to fix things that do go wrong. Toyota’s are good cars like Hondas..they last forever!

Q: Can someone please tell me the cost of a used Toyota Camry Se V6? ?
This car’s milage is 34,047. I paid $18,000 (including tax) for this car, but I want to know if the price was reasonable. Thank You
This car’s milage is 34,047. I paid $18,000 (including tax) for this car. Without tax the price was $15,990. I want to know if the price was reasonable.
Thank You
Btw: the year is 2005

A: kelly blue book

Q: Does anyone have a slide in hitch for a 92-96 Toyota Camry stationwagon? Used or new doesn’t matter.?
I’ve called every maker of hitches and no one has a hitch for my 94 Toyota Camry wagon. Hitches for Camrys, Corolla wagons or Corollas will not work. I’m willing to pay for a used hitch off a Camry wagon or a new one.

A: Sorry, i don’t, may want to check with U-haul, they usually have hitches, assemblies, and everything else for all makes and models, if they don’t have it, they can probably get it. Also check salvage yards.

Q: Used Cars: Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla or Nissan Maxima?
So I am looking for a used cars, and I narrow my choices to an 04 Maxima, or 05 Camry or Corolla. I’m leaning toward the Camry or Corolla seeing how gas is about to be $4 soon, but I like the large trunk space of the Maxima. But the fuel economy is great in the Corolla but it has the smallest trunk space compare to the other one. What should I choice?

A: If price is not a factor go with the Camry. The Maxima requires premium gas.

Q: I have just bought a used car,toyota camry 96 V6,123k,$4000.Is it a good deal?

A: its good if the car is really straight and clean. I always liked the lines on the 92-96 Camry. the v-6 is a good engine and the extra weight makes it a good highway car with good power. They were prone to getting oil leaks from the valve covers around that miles
and not easy to change because the plenum lays over the back cover. Has the timing belt been replaced at 120? cam seals?
these are all things that should be inspected on a buyers inspection—-(before you buy it) which i recommend on any used car. It is $100 well spent that can save you thousands. If they werent done yet..oh well, it is a good car–come see me and I’ll fix it..T&T

Q: Used Toyota Camry makes a whirring transmission noise as I give gas from a rolling stop. Is this normal?
Bought car at CARMAX and it’s still within 30 warranty. I took it there 2 days after buying it because transmission noises seemed unusual to me. They checked it, replaced fluid and said there was no problem. Now I have 16 days experience and hear this noise. I also own a 1996 Avalon and put on 100,000 miles of its 137,000. Have never heard this sound on it. This Camry is a 2003 that looks new and has only 22,000 miles on it. I can bring it back again or take it to a Toypta dealer. Does this noise suggest a problem? (Got 2 great replies before from a Toyota mechanic and another guy regarding sqeak in steering column rubber boot. You were right. Noise is gone for over a week with more grease.)

A: While it was still under warranty I’d have them check it out or fix it.Do u know anybody w/a car like yours? If so talk to them about your problem.

Q: chevy avalanche?
i was thinking getting a used chevy avalanche and wondering how many miles is too many miles to be on it?

A: It depends more on how well it was maintained. The Factory warranty on any GM vehicle is 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.. If the vehicle is within those limits, then almost all repairs will be covered by gm (except wear & tear items, like brakes)
You may also want to consider getting a GM extended warranty. The best one is called GMPP Major Guard. Go to any Chevy dealer and ask for it. (about $2500)

Q: Chevy Avalanche?
Any one have anything good to say about the 2002 Avalanche. How about a price tag of 17,000 and 48,000 miles. Let me know what you think.

A: The price is right, but the gas mileage is poor, about 11 miles to the gallon. The value of SUV’s has dropped considerably over the last few years. I would reject this vehicle because of that alone. It’ll cost nearly $100 or more just for gas in that thing.

Q: Chevy avalanche?????
So i’m getting a 2002 avalanche for my first car it has 130k. it’s for 5 grand and i’m paying for half

but i know the seats go down to open up to the truck caro part. but does the glass go down to or up.

and it has a cover to cover up the pick up part. Can that be put up easily to or not?

A: yep it goes down my to make it a total pick up

Q: Where do I find accessories and kit for a 2008 Chevy Avalanche?
I have a new 2008 Chevy Avalanche and I want to chrome it out a little. I want the mirror, handles, gas tank door, etc. I also want the bed to be the same color as the truck ( I don’t like the black rubber sole look). I can’t seem to find packages to by the chrome sets for a 2008, just 2007 and 2006.

Also, i need a cargo kit and something to help me get into the bed ( a ladder or something)

Any suggestions?

A: Check www.stylintrucks.com They should have some of the stuff you are looking for. Also, JCWhitney, Jegs, Summit Racing may also have some stuff. For sure, the Chevy dealership will have stuff, but it is more likely to be more expensive.

Q: What should i get done to my Chevy Avalanche?
I own a 2005 Chevy Avalanche. It is tan colored and completely stock. I know for sure i want a system but it needs to go under the seats. So it needs to be slim. I also don’t have a lot of money. Any other suggestions will be helpful.
I own a 2005 Chevy Avalanche. It is tan colored and completely stock. I know for sure i want a system but it needs to go under the seats. So it needs to be slim. I wonder if a lift would be a good choice. I also don’t have a lot of money. Any other suggestions will be helpful.

A: I’d say for around $500 or so, you could get a respectable system by shopping online (Ebay).

Here is an example-

Blaupunkt London head unit $89 @ SonicElectronix (includes all hardware and kits to install for free)
Alpine S series 6 1/2 speakers $75 on Ebay
Alpine S series 5 1/4 speakers $60 on Ebay
Alpine MRP-F300 4 channel amp $150 on Ebay
Infinity Basslink powered subwoofer $175 on Ebay

This system may not be a competition system or alarm your neighbors from 3 blocks away but will sound nice, loud and clean. You’ll also need an amp install kit for around $20 on Ebay.

Good luck.

Q: How to connect an amp and sub to a 2003 chevy avalanche with bose audio?
I have a 2003 chevy avalanche and i was wondering what wires i will need in order to connect the amp up to the stock radio. Also if you could give me a website to buy the cord that would be great. thanks

A: Find a car audio shop in your area that carries Peripheral Electronics interface harnesses. You need part# GMAA. Go here and use their dealer locator at the bottom of the page.http://peripheralelectronics.com
While there you can also enter you vehicle information at the top-right of the page and look at the part. There is even a link to the instruction sheet for it that shows a diagram of how it connects to the stock radio.

Q: How do I get my Jammed CD out of my Chevy Avalanche?
I own a 03 Chevy Avalanche and I have a CD stuck inside the dashboard 6 CD player (u load them into the changer) it plays the radio but it wont play CD. The display on the CD will say INITIALLIZING or no CD. HELP!!!!

A: try diconecting the battery it should cause the cd player to reset leave it dic. for at least 2mins. other then that go to a stario shop good luck

Q: What tires should i get for a lifted Chevy Avalanche 06?
Im getting a lift for my 06 Chevy Avalanche and im looking for tires reasonable price. any ideas?

A: if you are looking for an agressive tire (off road) that performs well on the street and hwy, take a look at the goodyear wrangler mtr-kevlar tires. they have good reviews and currently offer an $80.00 rebate on a set of 4.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlelc9iGvWE

http://www.trucktrend.com/features/consumer/163_0903_goodyear_wrangler_mtr_kevlar_tire/index.html

hope this helps

Q: What upgrades should i get for a 2005 chevy avalanche?
i have a 2005 chevy avalanche and i am looking to get some upgrades for it, possibly a new exhaust system. any suggestions would be helpful thank you! P.S. it cant be extremly expensive i am on a limited budget =]

A: http://www2.partstrain.com/store/parts.php?N=9860+1588+4294967001+11920 This site carries tons of performance parts and accessories for your avalanche.Best of luck.

Q: What should i do next to my 07 chevy avalanche? accessories?
Ok i have a 07chevy avalanche….what should i do next to it? i already have Bose system (but no subs), the neons inside and out, custom chevy exhaust…………….what should i do next? i dont wana put no rims on it yet……like should i do subs, tv’s, air intake,…etc????? Thanks for your opinions!

A: I would start adding to the engine, just becasue thats what i believe makes the vehicle. i hate seeing vehicles that are all decked out and when they pop the hood its all factory.

Q: how do I remove steering wheel for a 2008 chevy avalanche?
I need to remove the steering wheel for my 2008 chevy avalanche, if anyone has removed one could you please give me detailed instructions on how to remove it

A: I wouldn’t do that unless you’ve done it before. The airbags are really expensive to replace and one wrong move and… BOOM!!! Good luck.

Q: how much would payments be on a 2002 Chevy avalanche?
I’m wanting to get a Chevy avalanche and I’m gonna have about $3000 to put down and I want the oldest one so my payments will be lower so I’m gonna look for a 2002. Does anyone know around how much the payments might be a month. My credit isn’t too bad and I have no prior repos or anything.

A: Borrow $10,000. approx. 60 months payment $200.
Borrow $12,500. approx. 60 months payment $250.
Borrow $15000. approx. 60 months payment $300.

These are estimates depending on credit, APR rate and banks
flexibility

Q: Can a Chevy Avalanche fit a sport quad in the bed?
I was doing some truck shoping this week and didn’t know if a standard sport quad could fit in the back of an Chevy Avalanche. Good info to know as this is the only reason I’m buying another truck. Thanks for your help.

A: I dont know the dimenstions of a Standard ATV but here is the dimensions of the bed of the 2009 Avalanche

Inside width, at floor 50.00
Inside length, at floor, with Midgate Closed 63.30
Inside length, at floor, with Midgate Open 98.20
Inside width, between wheelhousing 50.00

and those are in Inches.

Q: Are headlights for 2003 Chevy Silverado the same as the ones for 2003 Avalanche?
Hi. I’m interested in buying aftermarket lights for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche and I was wondering if both the upper and lower half (sorry for the lack of technical names) of the lights are 100% compatible with these 2 trucks of the same year.

A: For that year I don’t think they matched. I think it was the 2004 silverado that wen tot the cats eye head light that they would come close to matching.

Q: How do i change my side terminals to top terminals(battery) for an ‘02 chevy avalanche?
ive googled all over the place. i need to change my battery terminal cables. they connect to the side of the battery and i would rather have the cables connect to the top of the battery rather than the side. its an 02 chevy avalanche 1500. know anything please hit me up. volcrany@yahoo.com

A: There’s probably a reason it’s got side terminals, no one prefers them.

Manufacturers use side terminal batteries because traditional top terminals won’t fit under the hood. Changing it will require modification in the engine bay, possibly a lot.

Take your truck somewhere that stocks a lot of batteries and then ask what will work in your truck. Prepare for disappointment though.

Sorry for the bad news.

Q: I am looking to buy either a used 2002 Ford Escape or a 2002 Saturn Vue, which would be best?

A: Ford Escape is waaaaaaaaaay better!!

Q: Should I buy a used 2002 Ford Escape???
It’s $8,902 and has a little over 80,000 miles on it. It even has leather seats! Can I get the dealer to lower the price? Also is this a reliable vehicle for me to buy? any opinions or comments?
Thanks!

A: i am also in the market for a car.. this site helped me out a lot

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/used-cars/index.htm

Q: Would you buy a Used 2004 Ford Escape 2WD XLT with 143,000 miles for $3,000?
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=273098932&dealer_id=64915949&car_year=2004&rdm=1264019895225&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&systime=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1999&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=16&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&first_record=51&make=&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=SUV&drive=&default_sort=&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceDESC&address=33068&advanced=&end_year=2004&pager.offset=50&doors=&transmission=&max_price=4000&cardist=20&standard=false

A: No way. Way too many miles.

Q: Yellow symbol on ford escape?
I just got a used ford escape. It is in veryy good condition but i was driving and this weird yellow symbol came on my dashboard. It is almost a rectangle but missing a corner and has three spots where there a raised edge on the rectangle. [bad description i know] I don’t have an owners manual right now. Any ideas?

A: Based on that description I couldn’t guess which symbol you’re describing.
I would have looked it up for you but you didn’t tell us what year the Escape is so therefor I will just give you the Ford-Owner Resource site
From there you can download the complete owners manual for the Escape and all the symbols will be explained.
You will probably want the rest of the manuals any way , right?

Just go to this site, ( http://www.genuineservice.com/genuineservice/en/default?page=Home ) submit your year, make, model & Voila! Instant free owners manual!
I hope this helps

Q: How to replace a Ford Escape stereo?
I recently bought a used ‘02 Ford Escape. The CD player did not work, so my husband bought me a new Kenwood car stereo. We had to pry the old one out of the dash. Now my key less entry won’t work and the key has to be on or motor running to lock/unlock the doors. We wired the new stereo but it won’t power on. HELP!!!

A: Check all of your fuses!!!!!In the car and under the hood.Hopefully he used an adapter plug and didn’t cut the factory plug off. Most likely you blew a fuse.Good Luck, and next time let a professional do it.

Q: Which is better, toyota corolla or ford escape?
needing some help. right now, i have a 1999 toyota corolla. it’s in fairly good condition. my parents have decided to buy my sister’s used 2002 ford escape. i get to decide to either keep my corrolla or take the escape. i’m having problems deciding.

so, i thought i would post a question asking for your opinion.

thanks everyone!

A: Dude, this is coming from a fellow Toyota owner, do Jap! My parents owned a Ford and let me tell you, the body shop bills add up! Whereas the Toyota only needed minor tuneups! Do Toyota! Thats just a personal opinion though

Q: can the petron e10 gas be used for a ford escape 2008?

A: Most gas is E10- it’s only 10% or less alcohol..

Q: Connecting phone to Ford Escape with SYNC?
I cant figure out how to connect my Blackjack II to my Ford Escape using SYNC. Does anyone have any experience with his?
i did that and it couldnt find my phone. my blackjack has bluetooth turned on, it just says “on your phone, press sync and type in the pin number” but i cant find it. ugh so annoying lol

A: 1. Press the sync button and
2. Go through the options until you get to phone
3. Sync phone
4. ???
5. Profit!

Q: What is the longevity (mileage wise) of a Ford Escape, specifically a 2001 or 2003?
I am looking into purchasing a used 2001 or 2003 Ford Escape and have found a few that differ in mileage. The one I like the best has the highest mileage but I was curious how many miles these things can go for … 150k? 200k?

A: depends on the owner regular maintance and just used to drive they will run for 250k+ but you will have to replace some parts that do wear out with tat many miles and so on but the motors will run forever

Q: Ford Suv, im looking to buy a 2007 Edge or a 2008 Escape used with low km for under 20k Canadian.?
Which one would you recommend for mostly city driving, performance and comfort.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.enacre.net

Q: Escape Hybrid used as a back-up generator?
My wife & I will be buying a used Ford Escape Hybrid in the next few months (if we can find one). We also would like to have a generator so we’ll have power when it goes out (it does too often). Is it possible to run power from the Escape Hybrid to my breaker box just like I would with a back-up generator? I assume I would need a very large inverter. I have seen many big inverters that convert 12 volts or 24 volts to 110/220 but the battery pack in the Escape Hybrid is ALOT more than 12 or 24 volts. I really think this would be a sweet system because I wouldn’t need to run the generator nonstop in order to have power. It would use the battery power until it began getting low, then the gas engine (generator) would start up – just as if you were driving. I would assume this would provide my home with more power than a $500 generator. Anyhoo, is this possible? Any knowledgeable input would be appreciated. Thanx!

A: You would be better off buying a gas generator.

I’m not sure what voltage the electric motor runs off of, but good luck finding an inverter other than a 12 or 24V unit. Then you need to look at what you will be powering: fridge, heater/ac, maybe microwave, couple lights. A fullsize fridge alone will drain batteries powering an inverter pretty fast. Then think of the fuel to run a 4-cylinder engine.

Purchase a generator, I would say at least 2500W. The best thing to do is look and see how much your appliances use, add up the fridge, a few light bulbs, maybe your TV… Just whatever will need to be turned on while on gen power, and add it up, Then get a bigger generator than that. Go for a generator that produces 240V (your haouse brings in 2 legs of 120V at different phases to produce 240). The way houses are wired, half runs off of one leg, the other half runs of the other leg. You could hook both legs to 1 on the gen, but anything that runs on 240V power will not work.

If you buy a generator with electric start, you could get an automatic switch gear, so when the power goes out, it automatically starts the gen and switches over to temporary power, when your main service comes back to life it will switch over and shut the gen off.

Q: anyone know that life expectancy on a Ford Escape?
I have been looking to buy a USED Ford Escape yr models 2002-2004. The problem is the miles I have found seem to be pretty high, like 110k up to 165k. My concern is should I buy with these high miles or is the Ford Escape reliable for a long time? Anyone know the life expectancy… I could really use some advise – have been all over the internet trying to find info and can’t find what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance for any info

A: It will last till the day it dies, lol. There is no guarantee on any car. I have seen Towncars with 300k+ and running strong and honda’s with 100k that have blown head gaskets. Most any car built these days will last well over 200k if properly taken care of from day 1. Most good cars with high miles are one-owner cars. They have lots of money invested in them since they bought them brand new and take care of them.

Q: How Do I Use Cruise Control on My 2001 Ford Escape?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape, and I read the manual, but I still do not understand how the cruise control works, or how to use it. I am not even sure if it is called “cruise control”, it’s those buttons on the steering wheel that say on/off, resume, accel, and cruise.

A: What I do no my Ford is this:: As soon as I start the car, I turn the cruise control ON. When I get to the speed I want on the freeway, I simply push the SET button. Your done. If you have to stop for any reason, you can hit RESUME# when you get above 35/40 MPH. I usually wait until I get to around the correst speed. Good Luck

Q: How much are these used cars? Which ones can i use in winter?
Read Below:
used subaru wrx
used 2008 ford escape
used 2000 cadillac escalade.
used grand cherokee?
please answer as many as you can.
im looking for a cheap car.
do you know whats the better buy?
And which one can i use in the winter?
On the ford escape..I’m adding year 2004 also.

A: 2008 ford escape, 50k, ~$12,000
2008 ford escape, 75k, ~$7,800
2000 cadillac escalade, 100k, ~$7,300
2006 grand cherokee, 50k, ~$14,000
2002 grand cherokee, 100k, ~$6,000

Q: 2005 Ford Escape XLS 4cyl Engine Life?
i just purchased a used 2005 ford escape 2.3l I4 4×4 auto transmission, it was a company vehicle for the past 2 years and they managed to put 77,000 miles on it. I also just put new 18″ rims and new 265 tires on it which i sit up higher now. Will it have to much pull on my engine?? How many miles can i expect to get out of my car? THANKS

A: Well, with the new tires, you will be just fine so long as your foot isn’t partially made of lead. Another thing to consider is, why did this company sell the vehicle, there had to be something that caused them to want to rid themselves of it. Another thing is, what kind of company was it, and how big was the company, a large company will have a maintenance schedule for the vehicle and have a specific mechanic that all their vehicles are taken to when an issue arises, a small company has employee’s who drive the heck out of a vehicle and the company doesn’t invest a whole lot of time or money in doing proper maintenance on them.

Now, moving past that, you can expect your vehicle to last as long as you are willing to take care of it. Do your oil changes every 3 moths or 3,000 miles, get your scheduled transmission services, your tune ups, and generally keep up on your vehicle, and it will last you a long long time. Every morning, do a walk around, check under for leaks, check around and just look at all you can, make sure everything looks ok. Every time you fill up with gas, check your oil while you are there. Find one specific brand and kind of oil and use it in your vehicle, and always have a quart on hand in case you need to top it off. Don’t forget to check your transmission fluid. Always after being warmed up and driven, and idling in park.

I have an 84 Chevy Suburban with a 6.2 diesel engine, and she runs like a dream, and she’ll keep running, so long as I take care of her. Just treat your vehicle right, don’t take the cheap quick fix if something is wrong, and you and your vehicle will be happy for a long time together.

Are you looking for a f150?

Q: I bought a used F150 truck that has glass packs on the exhaust system. Does it cost much to remove them?
I bought a used 1992 Ford F150 truck that has glass packs on the exhaust system. I hate the loud noise these make. Can I have them removed? Does it cost much or take long to do this? What is involved?

A: I have been around vehicles for over 20 years! But what the hell is a Glass Pack??????????

Q: How does a Ford F150 locate your tools for you?
The commercial that was on during the Yankees/Phillies game 11/1 said the Ford F150 can locate your tools for you. I checked the Ford site and can’t find anything. Was it just supposed to be funny? Or is there some element to the truck that keeps track of tools?

A: Ford offers an optional RFID-based scanning system / toolbox setup (“Tool Link”) on the 2009 and up F150s, Super Duty and E-Series van models. It’s a dealer option, so it may be possible to retrofit it. Basically, you tag your major tools, kits and equipment with an RFID tag and catalog it into the system’s inventory database. Via an in-dash touchscreen (which also offers other business features), the system can tell you whether the tag is present in any of the toolboxes or other scanned locations, and which location it’s in. DeWalt has partnered with Ford on this system, and you can find a pretty good article on their site:

http://www.dewalt.com/us/articles/press_release.asp?Site=service&ID=1658

Q: What are the pros and cons to removing the catalytic converter from my 94 Ford F150?
I love my 94 F150. I recently removed the muffler but it still isn’t as loud as I would like it. It appears to have 2 catalytic converters on it. Would gutting one or both of the converters make it louder and produce more power? What are some pros and cons to removing/gutting one or both of the cats? We dont have emission testing around here so im not worried about that. But would it affect my MPG?

A: Pros: None.

Cons: Won’t pass inspection, wont make more power, wont improve your mileage, probably makes your exhaust noise over the legal limit unless you add in a resonator.

If this was the 70’s you would likely get more power and better mileage since they were very restrictive then. Modern vehicles are deigned with a cat not adding them on later.

Q: What kind of tires are you running on your newer F150 4×4?
I’m looking for a different tire for my 04′ F150 4×4.I am running Bridgestone Revo’s now and they do well in all conditions except for wet grass and a small amount of mud in which the just slick up.What is anybody using that does well on the road as well as a bit of off road/snow?Only using stock height tires.

A: BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/As are the best tire out there, they wear like iron, grip like mad and look great.

Q: Is there away of fixing a speedometer on a 1990 F150 with out changing the cable?
It’s a late F150 1990 to be exact. when doing 60 the odometer says your doing 45. Which obviously the cops won’t believe that. So it there away of fixing this issue with out replacing the cable?

A: have you put bigger tires on it if you have that would be your problem you will have to change speedo gears accordingly good luck

Q: what is the widest tire that will fit on a 76 f150 without rubbing?
Got a 1976 F150, 460, reg cab longbed 2WD. I wanna put wider tires on but dont want them to rub when i turn hard or when the shocks compress. Does anyone know what is the widest I can put on there to make this happen?

A: 19″ tops,.

Q: What is the easiest way to pop out a dent on my f150?
I have a 2001 f150. There is a dent right on the drivers side front fender. Its literally right on top of the tire right on the edge. its about 3 to four inches tall and 5 to 6 inches wide. Its hard to get at it, because of the angle from prior attempts. What can I do? It looks really bad and i dont feel like payin somebody for something I can do myself.

A: get a toilet plunger and put it on the dent and keep on doin dat beleive me it works

Q: How much does it cost to add a sunroof to a 2005 ford f150 lariat?
I have a 2005 ford f150 and I want to add a sunroof, is that possible first of all? and if so, about how much would that cost? thanks.

A: Indeed it is very much possible… Your best source is likely national or regional chain of automotive glass shops, such as GLASS DOCTOR. Probable cost for the back-flip up variety, manual opening, should be less than $300. You may have size limitations, though. Good luck

Q: What should i do to make my f150 v6 be able to carry more weight without going all the way down?
I got a 1997 F150 v6 plain work truck which i can only carry 500lb on the back. this sucks, I need to make it carry more and what should I do with a very low budget? I know there is a Timbren, but does it really work?

A: a 1997 F150 is a 1/2 ton pickup thats 1000lbs not 500lbs. You can add a leaf spring which will help a great deal on max pay load and handling the weight. You can get a set of *clearance* leaf springs for around 100$. Not a very hard install either, you need a pair of jack stands, a 2 ton floor jack, and there are 4 nuts on U bolts on each side.

Q: How to remove the ignition switch on a f150?
I have an older 1988 f150. Since its older, and somewhat beat up, I’ve decided to just hot wire it instead of replacing my ignition switch. I Pryed on it with a screw driver and ended up Popping the end of the switch off. I cant pull the rest out with plyers though. How could I get it out?

A: remove steering wheel, stick key in ignition, press pin on side of lock cylinder, turn lock out of position using key. It’s not simple so mess around with it.

Q: How much fuel can my 1995 dual tank F150 hold?
I have a 95′ F150 5.0 with dual tanks and I was wondering how much fuel will it hold?

A: Somewhere around 19 gallons per tank.

Q: Do i need to change computer in 1991 F-f150 when swapping from a 302 to a 351w?
I am currently rebuilding a 351 windsor and putting it in my 1991 ford f150. It originally had a 302 in it. I’m trying to see what all I need to change. What parts on the 302 will fit on the 351 windsor? Do I have to change the computer?

A: Yes. Absolutely. change the ECM for the 351.
The engines look similar, but the parts interchange is very limited. Some parts will interchange such as valve covers and heads, manifolds and front timing cover and water pump – possibly some other parts, but due to the added height and width of the 351, that’s about it.

Q: How do i get better ride quality out of the rear of my 04′ F150 4×4 without replacing the rear springs?
vehicle–2004 F150 4×4 ext cab Lariat(new body)

The vehicle rides like a log wagon in the rear.It only rides well when there is a load in the back.Everytime i hit a bump it bounces all over.
How do i get better ride quality from my truck without replacing the rear leaf srpings or keeping weight in it all the time?

Would a different set of shocks help or not?

A: Put new shocks on it front and back. It will still be firm ride but will take the bounce out of it. The ride (firmness) will soften up some as the new shocks get some miles on them. The original shocks are made to ride good when the truck was new not to last forever so if its got around 40,000 mi or more replace them. Buy a quality oem replacement or better shock and that will help. Dont buy the cheapest thing you see.. Replacing the springs is unecessary and costly and trucks dont ride like cars. Hope this helps ..

Q: How high can a F150 be raised without needing to replace the driveshaft or any other high dollar parts?
I have a 2000 F150 XLT 5.4 TRITON .

A: You can install any leveling or suspension lift kit 6″ or less without having to mess with the drive shaft. Start with a leveling kit, they’re fairly inexpensive ($180 – $220)

Q: How much does a 1981 F150 standard cab pickup weigh?
I have a 1981 f150 standard cab with a 300-6 engine and 4 speed tranny up for sale for parts. I’m asking $300 and it comes with the canopy. Anyways,I was emailed about the truck and they said they would pay $125/ton if I brought it to them for scrap. So I need to know how much my truck weighs to find out the better deal.

A: Around 2-tons..

Q: Where can I buy a used honda civic eg6 turbo in the Midwest?
I am looking for one, just got my liscence, ready for some fun. Please let me know!

A: As T said real cars are built not bought, so if something goes wrong you know how it went together so you can fix it rather than pay someone to.
Plus you get the satisfaction of building a car yourself.
Just the idea of a turbo eg is getting me exited lol
On another note being a new driver, with no driving experience and driving a turbo car will get you in trouble, at least I know that I would.

Q: If i buy a used honda and bring it home will i be able to get it insured even if i dont have a license yet?
yes im 18 with and learning to drive before i take the behind the wheel test but i found a really good used honda and thaught i had to wait until i recieved the license to buy it and get it insured

my ? is can i buy this vehicle legally and get it insured without me even owning a license?

A: u can get the car insured in someone else’s name….but u cannot get insurance in ur name without a license…

Q: Can I get a Honda Certified Used Warranty on a privately sold car?
I am looking at a 2005 Civic, and the owner says that it’s certified and I should be able to send something into Honda to get the 7 year warranty. I can only find information on buying used from dealerships, so I’m not sure how to verify that it is certified and whether or not I’ll be able to get the warranty. Thanks!

A: The other posters just made stuff up. This is from Honda’s website.

Is the Honda Certified Used Car warranty transferable to a new owner?
Yes. The Certified warranty is transferable to a new owner in a sale from a private party to another private party. Simply complete the Change of Ownership Card at the back of the Customer Warranty Manual and mail it in to American Honda.

Q: Im thinking of buying a used 1999 honda accord with 120k miles on it.Should i get it?
It had three past users and the car fax report turned out clean its from a used car dealership. It is $6500.

Model: 1999 Honda Accord EX Coupe

A: No. 99 was not a good year for the Automatic Accord. I would check into 2000-2001 Honda Civics with less mileage for about the same change.

A lot of problems happen around 120K. CV Joints start going, timing belt will snap if it hasn’t been replaced, brakes, etc.

Common sense will tell you that if a car has had 3 previous owners, the records aren’t all going to be there. Each owner had a different driving style and that also puts different wear and tear on each of the parts. pass.

Q: How many miles should a used honda civic have to last a good 4+ years?
without it dying, needing to have something replaced, or whatnot…

coupe, automatic… seeing if i should make it my first car…

A: well…you have
the alternator
the tie rods inner and outer(drive like an a-hole youll need to replace the outer every 2-4 months and need an alignment which is like 100 bucks and outer rods like 20 a piece plus labor)
ball joints
rotors and pads
ac compressor(maybe ac recharge?)
tires
catalytic converter nd exhaust which can rust out or the cat can get clogged
tune up i.e plugs and wires
wheel bearings…you may have to replace these at 1 point
belts and hoses and tensioners…seen alot of hondas that need belts and tensioners but the owners tend not to care
oil changes every 3k miles cost you like 30 bucks
fluids like tranny etc
windshield wipers
shocks…youll need these at about 80-115k miles
etc
pretty much all that i can think of that can and will go wrong
just because its a honda, doesnt make it better

Q: Would you buy a used Honda or a brand new Ford?
Trying to decide between a used Honda CR-V or a new Ford Focus. Price range 12,000

A: Having owned a Focus and currently owning a Honda, Honda hands down. The parts on a Focus are weird and always have to be ordered. The great thing about Hondas is they build a part and use it forever. That’s one reason why Honda’s are the most stolen car. They have great parts resale. That’s also why you see 20 year old Hondas on the road. They don’t reinvent the wheel everytime they build a car.

Q: question about used honda accord?
I’m planning to buy an used car, and i found a 1995 honda accord for $3600, 10k miles. But my dad heard a lot of people said that most accord will have oil leaks problem after 10k miles, is that true?
sorry… its 100k… thanks.

A: my friend has a 94 accord about 130k on the engine, has never had any oil leaks. the most recent problem was he blew the engine after it overheated but he didnt notice the fan wasnt turning because of a blown fuse but the car ran great from the day he bought it at honda in 94 to the day the engine blew. the accord is a really strong and reliable car. but just make sure you keep it tuned and always do the tune up when it is suppose to be done and you will be fine. i know of people running about 250k on their accord mostly 94-96 before they give out and these people really torture cars at the track. so i would go for it.

Q: Need a used Honda or Toyota – which year(s) are best?
I need a used car. Im looking at Honda’s or Toyota’s – I know they are pretty reliable.

I dont want to pay more than 7500-8000 for a used car. Any advice on these cars & which years to shop for?

A: I agree with Andre B. An Accord or Camry would be fine, but between the two i would go with the Camry. I like the looks of the Accord better but certain years are prone to transmission problems on the 1998-2003 V6 Accords. Not only that, a 4 cylinder Camry is designed for people who don’t ake care of their cars. The engines are designed so that if the timing belt breaks, you won’t destroy your engine. You just get another belt installed and go. Also, consider a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. they are smaller than a Camry or Accord but they are reliable, safe, and roomy with excellent mpg. If you like the looks, consider the Echo as well.

Q: Where can I find a good used Honda for sale?
Does anyone know of any good websites where I can find good vehicles at descent prices?

A: ebay….just type in what kind of car you want and the year.

Q: How much would a used Honda CRF150F and a used Honda 100F usally cost?

A: Probably for the 150F around $2000 for a nice one in good condition. Im not really sure about the 100.

Q: Planning to buy a Used Honda civic or Toyota Corolla in Austin – tips please?
My budget is 7000$ and the car should be no older than 2000.
The mileage should be less than 130000 miles.
1) Should I go to a dealer? If yes, which ones are good?
2) Should I buy from an individual? If yes, are there any classifiedes sites I can look?
3) If I buy from an individual, what checks do I need to do to ensure the quality of the vehicle?

A: You will get a bettor price from a private seller. Find a shop that will look the car over for you and tell you if any thing is wrong. The private owner may have records showing when the oil was changed if a timing belt was changed etc. Look for a car owned by a family not some kid. It won’t be beat on as hard. You can eye ball a private owner and tell if he/she takes care of there stuff or not. Either car is a very reliable car. The thing is find one that has been taken care of.

Q: Where Can I get a 1964 Chevy Impala engine?
I am building a lowrider chevy impala and I want to buy a new engine for it, I heard theres a couple different types I can install in it a 327 or a 397?
but I would take any type of good engine/ or the original impala engine. Where can I buy one?

A: you are just after any basic chevy small block or big block. 283, 302,327,350,396, 402 or 409. They sale these engines everywhere. ebay, penny saver, newpaper, hot rod magazine, yellow pages, or on craigslist.

Q: How much to repair rear bumper on 08 chevy impala?
About how much would it cost to repair or replace the rear bumper on a 08 Chevy Impala LS. Im in the state of North Carolina.

A: it would be cheaper to buy one. maybe junk yard.

Q: Does anyone know how to bypass the theftlock on a 2005 chevy impala?
I’m about to put a CD player stereo in my 2005 chevy impala.I don’t want to pay the dealer to do it because its so expensive. Does anyone know the theft lock bypass procedure?

A: It’s not necessary to bypass the Theftlock system. That only becomes an issue when it’s time to put the factory radio back in; and in any case, your radio can recognize the vehicle through the data bus system, so it won’t be a problem unless you try to put the factory radio into a different car.

If you remove the stock radio, you’ll lose all audible vehicle warning chimes unless you use an adapter module (or a radio relocation harness) to keep them working.

Q: How to program remote keyless entry for 2006 Chevy Impala LS?
I just bought a 2006 Chevy Impala LS, and the remote keyless entry does not work. I changed the battery and it still does not work. Please help me.

A: you have to resync the remote after changing the battery, stand next to car hold the lock and unlock buttons down for about 7 seconds or until you hear the horn chirp, thats it good luck

Q: How do I get my mp3 player to work in my 2006 chevy impala ltz?
I have a chevy impala and the dealer said it has mp3 capability but didn’t explain how to use it. Does anyone know what i am suppose to do.

A: There are two ways that you may be able to do this. One is that you have an MP3 CD that you wish to play which would play like any other CD. Or for the MP3 player what you have to do is connect an audio cable to the Auxiliary Input jack that is in the face plate of the radio itself. These would be the two ways to use MP3 in your vehicle. I found all of this information in the owners manual for the vehicle. Section 3 pages 76 through 79. Thanks for your time.

Jeff Morris, GM Customer Service.

Q: What shall I do If my security light comes on in my chevy impala?
Im having a passlock problem in my 2002 chevy impala. The security light blinks on and the car wont start. I have to wait like 10 minutes before it resets itself. The dealor says it cost 600.00 to fix and no one else would touch it. Ive called around. Is there an easier way out of this?

A: all chevrolets have this problem, even mine. this summer i found out what my problem was. first the light blinks then, my tahoe woulg turn off while i applied the break peddle. killing all power to vehicle.
chevrolrt dealer told me same thing $600 to fix.

i thought the allarm system was holding it off, on anti-thift, cause i could hear the alarm box making clicking sounds

the problem with mine was a loose positive battery post.
even tho the post was tight, just wasn’t tight enough’
post was tight into the battery, but loose between both cables that hooked to the positive pose, not much just enough to cause problems.

what i did was put a lock washer between both cables, and installed cables in a v shape from bottom looking up.

havent had the problem again.

around here, i know at least 7 people with same problem

give it a try, before spending $600

Q: How do you tighten the lifters on an 2000 Chevy Impala?
I purchased a 2000 Chevy Impala (former police vehicle) and noticed that it has a slight rapid tapping sound. The tapping sound is loud when the car is idle but it quiet when the car is moving. My mechanic told me that it may be a rod tapping and that a thicker brand of engine oil will quiet it some. What are some resolutions to stopping this tapping sound?

A: Your mechanic is right. You also could try tightening the noisy rocker arm to the point where clicking stops ( do not tighten further than this point) . However you can just live with the noise.

Q: What modifications will I have to do when installing a 700r4 tranny into my 65 Chevy impala?
I have a 1965 chevy impala with a 350 tranny. I came across a 700r4 tranny. What modifications will I have to do to install the 700r4 tranny into my car?

A: shorten the driveline, move your tranny x-member 9 inches to the rear of the car, change the trans mount, fab some shift linkage, mount a throttle control cable in. and short across the trans wiring harness to disable the lock-up in the trans.

Q: How does the 2008 Ford Fusion compare with a 2004 Chevy Impala?
How do these cars compare in size, interior space, trunk space, and fuel economy? How does the value compare? I have a 2004 Chevy Impala with 59,000 miles to sell, and would like to buy a 2008 Ford Fusion with 25,000 to 30,000 miles.

A: the Fusion is a subcompact (read small), the Impala is a standard (read more room)

the Fusion will have a higher resale value so prepare to ante up at least $3K plus your Impala

Q: What are the rear end gear ratios for a 1961 Chevy Impala and a 1969 Chevy Bel Air?
What are the rear end gear ratios for those 2 cars?
What are the lengths of the rear end gears?
Are they compatible with eachother, like can a 1969 Chevy Bel Air gears be used in the 1961 Chevy Impala?
What kind of transmission wad used in the 1969 Bel Air?
Are the rear axles from drum to drum the same length in the 69 Bel Air and the 61 Impala?

A: compatibility of the two ratios really aint the problem for example if they are both 10 bolt GM housings with say a 8.5 inch ring gear then they can be swapped out as for determening the ratios (because the might have been changed) the only accurate way to tell is remove the differntial cover and count the teeth on the ring gear and count the teeth on the pinion gear then there is a formula for determining the ratio. As for the transmissions i amnot 100% sure but it is possible that the transmissions could be a cast iron 2 speed powerglide (if automatic) A 3 speed colum shifter a 4 speed muncie or if it was changed it could be a 200-R4 or TH-350 if you want to know the exact OEM parts from the factory get a vin # and contact a GM dealer or research it on the web you can find a lot more some people will claim a car is all original until someone researches the parts…

Q: How do I remove the speakers and covers in a 2004 Chevy Impala?
I want to upgrade my speakers in my 2004 chevy impala in the rear of the car, i do not know how to take the speakers out or how to take the covers off, i already broke a cover and dont want to break another. Anyone know what to do?

A: hmm maybe find some edges of hte plastic around the speakers, pry that off then unscrew the speakers.

I dunno it seems like it would be something that whoever built the car wouldnt expect so it’d probably be a better idea to take it to a professional.

you can also just ask a professional’s advice( just like someone that works at a car repair shop)

Q: What is the wheel bolt pattern for a 1963 Chevy Impala?
I Would like to know what the bolt pattern and lug size is for a 1963 Chevy Impala.

A: They are a 5×120.7 ( 5 x 4 3/4″) bolt pattern and the lugs are 7/16″. I assume you are looking for wheels………good luck !

Q: 03 Chevy Impala old police car change enigine oil light stays on after I changed the oil what do I do?
03 Chevy Impala old police car change enigine oil light stays on after I changed the oil what do I do?
Thanks everyone for the help I tryed the three times 2 the floor but it didnt work

A: you say you did the gas pedal to the floor 3 times and it didn’t work so now try unhooking one battery cable for about 2 minutes and rehook it.

Q: Where Can I Find A Driveshaft And Parts For A 1968 Chevy Impala?
I need to buy a few parts for my 1968 chevy impala and i was wondering if you knew of any places that carry used or new parts for it. Im in Southern California if that helps. Thank you.

A: Visit your Chevrolet dealer’s parts department vintage parts catalog.
Web sites: wwwautopartswarehouse.com
www.automobilearchives.com
and your local salvage yards

Q: How much should it cost to replace all the break pads and the front rotors on a 2000 Chevy Impala?
I was quoted $600 to replace the front rotors and all break pads on my 2000 Chevy Impala. Does this seem like a reasonable amount?

A: Bub is right. $600 is steep & excessive. Replacing both pads & rotors isn’t really that hard. You don’t need a great deal of mechanical experience to do that job yourself. A good repair manual from Pep Boys or Auto Zone, plus all the parts will not exceed $300. Get a Chiltons manual & learn how to do that work yourself. Once you know it, for the rest of your life you’ll be da man knowing how to do a brake job yourself.

Q: What is the cheapest way to replace car door locks on a ford ranger?
Someone drilled the car door locks out of my ford ranger and I can’t get into my truck. I was wondering how much it would cost and who I should have install new car door locks? Do I go to an auto body shop? The dealership? I have no idea who to go to and how much this is gonna be.

A: call a lock smith

Q: How do I take off the center console/armrest on my 1999 Ford Ranger regular cab?
How do I take off the center console/armrest on my 1999 Ford Ranger regular cab?
So I need to take out my front seat to get to the bolt for the center console?

A: It is part of the driver’s seat assembly. If you remove it you will have the hole on the right side of the seat. There’s no cover made for it.

EDIT: Don’t know who gave me the thumbs down, but I know what I’m talking about. I’ve had my seat out of my Ranger. Remove the armrest and you’ll find a hard plastic insert with sharp edges that can cut your arm if not careful.

Q: How can I get more power in my 1993 Ford ranger?
Is there an easy way to boost the horsepower in my Ford ranger? I have a 2.3 engine.
I said an EASY way.

A: For a 2.3 engine, you can go with a Cols Air Intake and a high flowing muffler…. these are the 2 cheapest easiest ways, also get some platinum plugs…..

Q: Anyone know if there is a diagram for a Ford Ranger altentor belt?
I have just replaced my alternator on my 1990 Ford Ranger, need a diagram on the belt placement. Does anyone either know how it’s placed or know where to get a diagram?

A: Have you checked under the hood? A lot of manufacturers will put a diagram of how the serpentine belt is fitted under there. If not you will probably need to get a shop manual for your particular model.

Q: How do I adjust the steering in a 94 ford ranger?
I have a 1994 ford ranger 4 cly and the steering wheel has several inches of play on either side. Once you turn the wheel past that point the steering I’d as rift and responsive as it should be. Is there an adjustment I can make or am I going to have I replace the steering box? Any help is much appreciated.

A: First look under the truck as someone wiggles the steering wheel to see where the play is. More than likely you have loose tie rods, or a idler arm. I have never seen a steering box need adjustment on a Ranger!

Q: What is the best way to Improve my 1991 Ford Ranger’s performance?
I have a 1991 Ford Ranger and i just can’t seem to give it up. I have the money and time to fix “her” up and improve her style. What are the major things that i should start out on? New engine or keep the one i have and improve on it? (2.3L 4 Cyl. M/T) Im up for any ideas and insights.

A: The 2.3 in the Ranger is pretty much the same as in the Mustang or the T-bird. The best place to go if you want to find performance parts for that engine, is Racer Walsh. Hope that helps!

Q: how do i make my 1998 ford ranger sound good?
i just got a 1998 ford ranger 2.5l. im planning on getting a gibson full exhaust, k&m cold air intake and dynomax headers. if anyone can help me out with making my truck sound better i’d greatly appreciate any advice. thanks!

A: Be VERY conservative on exhaust pipe diameter or you will destroy torque and mileage. That little engine will be more than happy with a single 2 inch exhaust. I think the smallest that Flowmaster makes a muffler for is 2 1/4. That will work but is on the big side for you.

Q: Is A 2000 Ford Ranger a dependable car for a 16 year old to drive?
I stumbled across a 2000 Ford Ranger pick up at a used car lot, i just drove by, but didnt check the mileage, but it was $2695.00. My questions are is this a good price, and would this be a relilable car for a 16 year old kid to drive to school everyday?

A: I think it would be a great deal and a nice vehicle for your kid to drive.
I just sold my old 1991 F-150 here on Ebay for $1650.00
The truck had 150000 miles on it but no big problems,The rusty frame was the problem with my truck.
good luck

Q: How to install an aftermarket Alpine cd player in 1996 Ford Ranger?
Hi i have a 1996 Ford Ranger and the stock radio is already gone, and i bought a Alpine cd player and wanted to install it and was wondering what all i would need to sucessfully install it? Is it simply plug in?

A: well to be able to get a correct answer,
you have to enter all the information about the harness etc!
i recommend you to go to this site,
http://www.the12volt.com/
all you have to do is sign in,
and search for the answer,
or even better, post your question and wait for the answer!
i have been member of this site for 5 years,
and is free!
trust me, they know what they’re doing,
i hook all sound system and alarm system with their help!
I’m talking about the viper, remote starter, motion sensors,
scanners etc!
you should try it!

thank you and good luck!

Q: How hard is it to install a body lift kit on a 2002 Ford Ranger?
How hard is it to install a 3″ body lift kit on a 2002 Ford Ranger. Would you recommend doing it yourself or taking it to someone.

A: If you have never done one before, take it to a pro. Park brake cable needs to be re-routed, Brake lines lengthened if 4X4 floor shift lever needs extension. Will need stronger alternator to power electric fans because fan shroud will no longer fit the engine compartment, You may need different top radiator hose because of interference by idler pulley the wiring harness will stretch far enough with 3′ and do not forget the bumper adapters for proper look. The bed is the easy part

Q: What kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2000 ford ranger and i wanted to look at engine to put in it in the future. Could i replace it with a v8?

A: if you want to stay smog legal, I would hop up the 4.0 SOHC. the new Mustangs use it and have over 200 hp. with 400 possible..

Q: Can an amateur mechanic replace the tie rods in a Ford Ranger?
I’m a very amateur mechanic. I replace things like spark plugs, alternators, starters, maybe a water pump when it breaks. I think I need new tie rods on my 95 Ford Ranger, but I’m not sure I’m up to the job. How hard is it?

A: Yes you can, also depending how rusty and gunked up are they. You might bust a knuckle or too.

Good luck!

Q: How many gallons is the gas tank on my 1994 Ford Ranger?
I need to know how many gallons the gas tank is on my 1994 Ford Ranger. It is a regular cab, 4×4, 6 cylinder, with a manual transmission.

A: i have a jeep 4×4 mine is a 15 gallon tank, so i was told.. so probably between 13 and 15 gallons, i hope this helps, if not look in owner manual.

Q: What type of emergency lights would look good on a ford ranger?
My fire department policy is that once you pass you volunteer firefighter course u have to run lights and sirens to the station for a call. And I was just wondering which set of lights and sirens would work on a Ford Ranger. I like to keep the price range under 250 dollars

A: http://www.fleetsafety.com/Whelen-Avenger-Dual-LED-Dash-Deck-Light-AVN2-FREE-SHIPPING-273
This one is just under 250 dollars, it’s pretty compact and you can take it off whenever you want. You can also choose the color.
http://www.fleetsafety.com/Whelen-L22-Beacon-LED-Light-359
This one is an exterior light, so vehicles behind can see it as well, and it costs about 130 dollars.

Q: Can anyone find me pictures of a pimped out black ford ranger?
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger, and its extended cab, 4×4 and I want to make it look good but I need some ideas. Can you find me some killer pictures so I can get some ideas?

A: Yea, go to www.cardomain.com Search for your car by year, make, and model. They have tons of nice rides.

Are you looking for a mazda 5?

Q: what cargo cover is compatible with a mazda 2002 ptotege 5 mine got stolen and i need to know which other fits?
got stolen dont know which is compatible if anyone knows can you tell me . is for mazda protege 5 2002

A: Check dealer and/or wrecking yards. They will have cross-references and prices.

Q: what cars will be able to use stock wheels from a 2002 Mazda Protege 5?
I have a set of wheels with tires .[5 lug 16"].. I wonder what cars, other than mine, would be able to use them.

A: Pretty much anything with a 5×114.3 bolt pattern. I had a set of Protege5 wheels on my ‘94 626, so I can say for a fact that it fits that model.

Q: A good mazda mx-5 aftermarket shop in the UK?
I’ve only found a couple shops(japspeed and mx5parts) that deals with a few aftermarket products for mazda mx-5. I want to find one with a bigger selection of products. An online shop not a physical shop. Any suggestions? Thanks

A: I would suggest that you locate some one close to home that knows Miata’s to help you. Like maybe someone at the Miata Club UK, us yanks would not know a reputable dealer as we seldom do business that far away from home.
Moss Motors is a US dealer that deals in the UK by the way (Moss Europe Ltd).
I listed one more link. I found it by searching for “Miata Parts UK” there are others, maybe you can complete your own search and find dealers you can trust.

Q: How do you install mud guards onto a 2007 mazda 3 5-door?
I want to install the mud guards onto my new mazda 3, but I don’t want to pay $100 service just to get them put on. If it’s an easy enough process I would like to do it myself

A: They are typically easy to install.

All you will need is a screwdriver or a ratchet with a 10mm or 12mm socket.

The fitting should be quite simple since there might be predesignated holes that were not drilled out on the body for you to align them to.

Q: Can the pontiac solstice gxp turbo beat the mazda mx-5 miata in speed?
Can the pontiac solstice gxp turbo go faster than the mx-5 miata?

A: I would think so.

Q: Can I swap a Mazda 5 ECU into my Mazda 6 with the 2.3L?
I would like the lower-end torque available on the Mazda 5, and don’t care much about the high RPM HP that the Mazda 6 provides when compared to the Mazda 5.

A: … you do realize it’s a minivan, right?

Q: what’s the difference between mazda 5 and 6?
and what does the i and s stand for?
how about mazda 3? why is it more expensive?

A: Mazda 5 is a “small” minivan and the 6 is a midsize 4 door sedan with a trunk. The i is the base model and the s is the upscale model with more options. The Mazda 3 is the compact 4 door sedan with a sporty flair to it (enhanced handling, peppy engine). There are 3 levels of the Mazda 3 – i, touring and s, each one more expensive than the other.

Q: nobody has been able to solve this properly yet,how many tomatoes can you fit into a new mazda 5 car.?
how many tomatoes can you fit into a new mazda 5 car exclusing the engine area.please can anyone genius solve this.i have tried and failed.this is a quiz and i really want to know the answer.please somebody give me an answer, tell me how many tomatoes can you fit into the new mazda 5 car and how you got the answer.

A: Just one, but I grow really big produce. :^)

Q: Where can i buy a tow bar for an Mazda MX 5?
I have a Mazda Mx5 import (eunos) and want to tow a small dinghy on a trailer behind it, But cant find anyone who makes or fits one!

A: Witter did one for the MK1 (up to 1998), none are listed after that. Witter state that after 1998, the MX5 was not Homologated for towing.

http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/towbars/price_list.aspx

Q: What do I need to do..Door on Mazda 5 open…frozen will not close properly?
We are in the middle of a blizzard. Opened the rear passenger door on my Mazda 5, it is a sliding door. Now the door will not close completly. It was working fine before now. I do not know what to do…I believe it may be froze somewhere. Made sure that the track is clear of ice and snow…still nothing. What do I do???

A: After you thaw the door out and get it working again spray all the moving parts with a silicone lubricant. Then it wont freeze.

Q: Would you consider a Mazda MX-5 a flashy car?
This guy I know owns a silver Mazda MX-5 and everyone always calls him “flashy” and a “showoff” because of it.
Why is this?

A: It may be the image that he presents, how he parks and drives the vehicle plus fewer people have a convertible sports car, this may make him standout in his circles. It could have something to do with vanity plates, how he has the car accessorized and maybe others don’t see that type of car as often because of a smaller town mentality.

A car can be a reflection of the person, maybe he is a flashy dresser and a correlation is drawn in the mind of others a flashy car. Who knows, I wouldn’t worry about it, people are always going to have something to say. If it is not the question you raised it would be something else. Tell him to enjoy his car, life is short.

Q: i want the mazda 5 so bad, but its mazda a bad car company, like compared to a toyota of honda?
do you think honda and toyota are the best!!! i mean a dealer guy told me that all the cars are built pretty solid due to the compition!

A: If you want it, then get it. In my experience, I don’t think Mazda is at all worse than the other two you mentioned. My Mazda truck is a 92 model and it’s still going strong. I bought it used and I’ve never had any trouble with it. I’ve driven it up and down California numerous times and I even drove it from California to Pennsylvania in March of this year with no problems whatsoever — not bad for a truck that’s turning 16!

Q: How do u change overhead valve cover gasket on a 2002 Mazda Protege 5? It is a 4 cyl. 2.0 engine.?
This is the wagon version of Mazda protege commonly referred to as Mazda P-5.

A: just take off the valve cover, remove the old gasket, put on the new one, and put the cover back on. presto! takes about ten minutes

Q: Is it possible for me to replace the freon in my 2007 mazda 5?
My air conditioning in my vehicle isnt very cold anymore and I was told if I took it to a mechanic that I would have to pay $200 and up to have the freon replaced…..is this something I can do myself?

A: yes you can do it your self, its very easy even for the beginner mechanic, you just hook the freeon and its hose to the port where it fits, there are 2 connections on your system but the hose will only fit the one you need to put the freeon in, i cant really explain it to you because if you dont know anything about cars then you should just ask someone you know that does and , see if they will do it, best to just pay someone 20 dollars and let them do it, because you do have to know what part is what and where you should be looking for the connections to put your freeon in , you need to have a person show you how instead of letting someone explaine it over the internet, because you need to see the parts and things on your car as someone showes you how to do this, it only takes about 10 min to do it and thats it, like i said its easy but you do need some common knowlege about a car before you attempt it.

Q: What cars are similar to a 1994-2000 Mazda Miata/MX-5?
I’m trying to figure out the make and model of a vehicle that could at a glance be mistaken for a Mazda Miata/MX-5, year between 1994-2000. Specifically, I’m looking for a two-door coupe that has rectangular (more tall than wide) reverse lights positioned to each side of the license plate. I saw a vehicle a few days ago that matched this description and I need to figure out its make and model. Your help is appreciated.

A: Coupe?

What about the Honda Del Sol? (Search the web for better pics)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_del_sol

Also, the Toyota MR2. (Search the web for better pics)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr2

Another convertible could be the 3rd generation Mercury Capri was brought from Australia to compete against the Miata.

Are you looking for a gto for sale?

Q: What is the difference between a 1967 Pontiac gto and a 1967 Pontiac gto lemans?
I am about to buy a 1967 Pontiac GTO and I dont know if its a lemans or not? the guy is selling it for $8,500 is this a good deal?
A 1967 Pontiac Lemans not a 1967 Pontiac gto lemans
OK IT HAS A 400cu engine and its a convertible
it was for sale by owner and it dosent say gto or lemans
the car says Pontiac gto

A: While it’s true the GTO was the only one of the A-bodies to get the 400, this won’t determine if it’s a GTO since you haven’t told us what engine you’ve found (if any) in the GTO.

However, the VIN will determine whether it’s a GTO. For 1967, it could be one of three:

242077—- (Sport Coupe, which has the B-pillar between the side windows)
242177—- (Hardtop Coupe, which has no B-pillar)
242677—- (Convertible)

(The rest of the numbers after what’s listed above won’t be pertinent for the moment.)

If these check out, it’s *most likely* a 1967 GTO . . . but people have been known to fake cars. That’s why Pontiac Historical Services is your best bet to know how your car was originally equipped:

http://www.phs-online.com/

Values vary depending on what the original engine was. Top engine – less than 800 made – was the Ram Air rated at 360 hp and only equipped with 4.33 gears. Hence, it’s hard to determine a value without looking at the car and without knowing what 400 the car originally had.

Good luck!

Q: Where to get a 1973 Pontiac gto supercharger?
My dad bought a 1973 pontiac GTO and I want to try and find a supercharger/ a supercharger kit to put on it. Any ideas of where i can get it. Or what can i do to make it faster?

A: paxton superchargers

or

procharger superchargers

Q: Could I build a replica Lamborghini using a supercharged 05′ Pontiac GTO engine?
As in could I take a replica already built and just put in a GTO engine? The power of 600hp would be there and it’d look just like any Lamborghini except alot alot alot cheaper.

A: Of course you could. It would be a lot more reliable than a Lambo too, just wouldn’t sound as good.

Q: How do you hook up 2 of the exact same JBL amps together for my 2 JBL GTO subs?
I have 2 75.2 JBL GTO Amps and 2 JBL GTO subs how and what do i need to hook it up and so I can control both amps at the same time from my head unit?

A: hook the output from one sub into the input of the other…via rca cables

Q: Why a cold Air Intake Makes My 2006 GTO Turn off when you lower windows?
After installing a KN Cold Air Intake to my 2006 GTO, I noticed whenever I lowered my Power Windows the Engine would shut off. I know it sound weird, but very true. Took it to Pontiac Dealer, they saw it and were stunned. They could not correct. Either could KN. Had to remove it and now all is back to normal. Has anyone ever heard of this?

A: your computer does not like the mod. yes im serious

I had this one car if the oil got low the power windows would not go up.
The little computers in cars have strange ways of saying something is not right.

Then i had this other car when the battery would get low the radio and windshield wipers would turn on it was very strange and funny =)

Q: where can i find a program to put ground effects and paint on my 1973 Pontiac GTO, like in need for speed?
I have a 73 GTO that I would like to put ground effects, hood scoops, and spoiler on but I want to see what it looks like first. Is there a program i can use here on my PC to do this?

A: why ruin a GTO with this crap, if you want to it to look like a honda civic just buy one and sell the GTO to someone who will give the car the respect it deserves!

Q: Is a car jack for a classic GTO specific to year?
I know it sounds silly, but I don’t know.
Do you have to buy a jack for a GTO specific to the year? Like do I need to look for a ‘70 GTO car jack, or just any Pontiac car jack?
I know it sounds retarded, but I was told by quite a few people that Pontiacs have to have car jacks made specifically for them.

A: if your looking for a original jack for a 70 gto i believe the base and the pole part of any gm car is the same but the part that goes onto the bumper is different as the bumper shapes are different try and find some one in the pontiac oakland club they will know

Q: How does a GTO compare to a Mustang?
What are the speed differences in a stock 2006 GTO and a new stock Mustang GT? (acceleration, top speed, 1/4 mile, etc.) Because i have a friend that is telling me that a stock mustang would beat a new gto

A: dont know exact speed difference but a stock GTO should beat a stock Mustang GT

Q: Can Gto head light covers be fixed to not prevent the headlight from being as bright?
I drive a 2002 camaro z28 and recently purchased GTO tail light covers and headlight covers. I have no problems with my tail light covers but my headlight covers make it nearly impossible to see the light coming from my head lights at night. for the low beams it bend it to make a U on the road and high beamsare extremely faded. ANy suggestions?

A: they are not to be used on the road for that reason. So, my suggestion is to take them off when you need the lights. You will get a ticket eventually.

Q: How to I tell if I have matching numbers on my 1965 GTO?
How do I tell if I have a matching numbers GTO?

A: I would start by checking your block casting numbers. and as firebird stated your block shouldnt have a vin number. i would highly recommend getting your car documented by Pontiac Historical Services. here is the link for that http://www.phs-online.com/

this link has your data plate/VIN code break down http://www.gtoalley.com/sixfive.html

here are the engine and heads casting numbers breakdown

Q: Where can I find a supercharger made specifiacally for my ‘68 Pontiac GTO?
It’s a 1968 GTO clone, so technically not a GTO but it has the GTO engine. But it’s the 400 ci V8 and I can’t find anything specific for the life of me.

A: They dont make many (if any) specific kits for supercharger / blowers on carberated cars. Your going to have to get a bigger carb anyway so the only thing that you would have to connect into is the belts and air intake. You can get a nice blower from summit that will come with belts and pullys, they even make some that should fit under the hood if your going for more of a stock look.

Q: i bought a tachometer for my gto and it reads up tp 8000 rpms?
to what should i adjust the redline pointer so i dont over rev.?
its a sunpro tach 2 .
its going on a 71 lemans clone gto with a 383 in.it was a chevy but bored it out 30 over.
it has a th400 and its automatic.
and the shifter does not have a shift light.

A: not sure there are any tach’s out there that control shift points basically since your car is automatic then it is going to shift when it needs to not much reason to have a shift light on your car except to monitor your rpm’s personally i would not rev past 6000 maybe 5000 if the motor is older

Q: Does anyone own a new Pontiac GTO. If so how do you like it, does the engine run strong. What are the pros a
Does anyone own a new Pontiac GTO. If so how do you like it, does the engine run strong. What are the pros and cons. I am thinking about getting one.

A: There is no such thing! 2006 was the last year for the two door Holden Manaro shipped to the USA as a GTO. My 2006 six speed manual with 18″ tires and less than 16,000 miles. I have cold air intake K&N, GMMripshifter, Hodgekiss Sway bars, SLP lould mouth exhaust and SLP’s Predatior Power programer. I installed more aggressive Bridgstone RE-010R tires. Good for about 13.7 mpg in town average speed 28 miles an hour and over 25mpg on the highway at just under 70 mph. Torque this car could pull down trees! Power you can select any three gears during normal driving. Top speed limiter is gone with the programmer and I haven’t seen the top speed yet just over 150 so far actual speed. Great brakes for a stock car very good seats hold you in on corners. I think a four speed automatic in this car would be a mistake gas milage would suffer. Come on Join the GTO crowd! Just a word of warning these cars are fast and powerful. Take a performance driving school learn your limits and the cars handling before exercising your right foot in traffic with traction control turned off.

Q: How do I add power in the high RPMs for my GTO?
I have an 05 GTO. All I have added is a cold air intake, new spark plugs, and took off my cutoff silencer and my mufflers and turned it into 3″ straight piping. Off the line, my car is great, but in the higher RPM’s(around 60-80mph) when I floor it, it’s so slow. What can I install to fix that?

A: it’ll cost ya

cams

maybe lightweight flywheel (though this can be annoing to drive and lose some low end power)

a tune

Q: In the punisher movie from 2004 what color is the gto that he drives around in also what year is it?
In the 2004 Punisher movie what color is the Gto it does not look like its just primer, just really like the color and want to know thanks alot. Also it is a 69 gto right?

A: Hey buddy, i think you’ll find it is just plain old matt black, matt black never really looks black in light. Buy a can and give it a go, maybe even a black primer?

Are you looking for a honda s2000 for sale?

Q: recommend me a tyre for a Honda S2000 for the UK?
I am looking for tyres for my Honda S2000. I drive mainly on motorways and do high mileage. I need a tyre that will be good all year round (ie in the wet) and realise decent wear rates (no good if they are supurb but for wear out in 10K miles!!)

A: the ones honda specify, they designed the car, they selected the best tyres for the car.

Q: Would it be practical for a 16 year old boy to save up for a Honda S2000, and use it along with the car he has?
I am 16 years old, and I already have a beautiful 2004 Mazda 6s. I am extremely passionate about cars though, and I love the Honda.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=259729336&dealer_id=57619301&car_year=2000&rdm=1238773096781&model=S2000&num_records=100&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=HONDA&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceASC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=08879&advanced=y&end_year=2010&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=1369&standard=false

I could get it really cheap too. I have money invested right now, and the investments seem to be paying off nicely. I could also get a job, and that combined with the money I already have, would enable to get this car.

But, do you consider that to be spoiled? Even though I worked hard for it? And would it be practical for me to own multiple vehicles?

Please respond. Thanks.
i’m not trying to impress anybody moron, i’m fulfilling my passion for cars, something you might not understand.

ever since i was really little all i could think about was cars, and that interest has only deepened as the years went on.

i’m not doing it as a financial investment, i’m doing it as a personal investment. i’m doing it because i’m very passionate about this, and it is a really good car.

A: I have owned several S2000s and they are not the car for a 16 year old as they are real fast. An inexperienced driver (which at 16 you’re sure your great) can easily go from “wow” to “oh, sh^#”. Easy to die in it and insurance is expensive for an under 25. Most younger owners think they need to add a turbo or nitrous and take them street racing. The next thing you know they killed someone or themselves or at a bear minimum lost their license.

The newer S2000s are like a Honda on speed. The older ones are like a Honda on crystal meth. The tires are expensive and don’t last very long.

Q: Is stock 2004 honda s2000 allowed to participate in racing without aftermarket roll cage?
Convertables usually ane not allowed for car clubs driving events/racing. Honda s 2000 has sort of a roll bar behind each seat. So, is it allowed in such events?

A: Solo II, parking lots around the cones, Yes

Solo I, racetracks around cones, NO

Track days on race tracks, NO

SCCA member since 1978

Q: How does the Honda S2000 handle in the winter?
I am looking at getting an S2000 but Im not sure if I should before the winter. How does it handle in the snow?

A: I would have to agree with wizard81 on this. I own an S2000, it’s an awesome car and you won’t regret buying it. BUT it does not handle well on snow or rain, especially on stock tires. Those were specifically made to handle on the local dry road courses.

Even in rain, my tires would still break loose going straight!
It’s the most fun you can have in a roadster 3/4 seasons! I’d still buy it.

Q: Why has the Honda S2000 not gone through a new body style?
ever since the S2000 came out in 2000, it’s pretty much looked the same, just minor changes here and there. just wondering because other cars go through a new body style every four years or so.

A: In my opinion, the S2000 is still a good looking car. It has a nice engine package and the body is still sporty. I don’t think they should change.

Q: How do I do a transmission flush on my Honda S2000?
My S2000 recently went through a lot deep puddles because of all the rain we have had in the past few days. This morning when I woke up the “check engine” light was on, and my friend said it was because I need a transmission flush. Does anybody know how I would perform one of these on my car?

A: yes i do, but it is more likely you got some sensors wet and they need to dry out or be replaced it is pretty hard to get water in a tranny or an engine unless it went under the water,to change the fluid you can unbolt the tranny bolts and drop the pan or you can get a pump to suck out the fluid

Q: Is 14000 a good price for a 2002 Honda s2000 black with 72000k and clean title?
Its sooo hard to find the s2000 in good condition but this guy is asking for 14000 for an 2002 stock black with 72000k is this a good investment for the money guys?
im gonna buy it cash

A: According to Kelley Blue Book, a private sale value for this car is:

in Excellent Condition: $17,650

in Good Condition: $16,550

in Fair Condition: $15,100

So probably a good value.

Q: Where can I find a Honda S2000 Transformer at a good price and which one is better?
I have a $70 budget and my boyfriend wants a Honda S200 Transformer, however, there are different kinds and I don’t know which type is better. Where may I buy this “collectible item” and which one should I buy. I have seen at least three different types so far. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Sincerely,
Lennon<3

A: Ebay. I would go for the diecast imports from Japan, not the plastic version we get here.
Put in as your search one of the following:
Transformers Windcharger
Transformers Binaltech Overdrive
Transformers Decepticharge

The Binaltech in the Japanese kind.

Q: What is the best way to locate a leftover 2008 Honda S2000?
Am willing to go anywhere in the U.S. to buy the lowest-priced S2000. Have cash.

A: If you are looking for new contact me with an offer(reasonable). We will even pick you up at the airport. Are we going to give it away? No

I have one left in Chicane Silver Metallic with black leather.

Q: How much does it cost to insure a Honda S2000?
I want someone who actually owns or has owned this car to give an answer. I dont want someone to go to progressive and tell me 800 a month because thats BS.

A: Im a 19 year old guy with a decent driving record and good grades and i drop about 300 a month for full coverage under allstate and thats under my parents name. on my own they said it would be around 350 a month

Q: How can I tune my Honda S2000 for drag in NFS Pro Street?
Also, how can i get stage 4 parts for it?

10 points for any help!

A: google it

Q: Does Honda S2000 have LSD, and what is the different about AP1 and AP2?
I have 2001 S2000 and was wondering if I needed to buy LSD for my car. I also have 350z and it has the DVC system where I can turn on or off and I love it. But what about my s2000? What can I do to fix this problem?

A: Try asking the question on a honda forum..

Q: I’m looking at buying a Honda s2000 how much to turbo or supercharge it?
how much about would it cost me to supercharge or turbo an s2000?
also, is this something that i could do myself? How much knowledge do i need or could i learn to do it by taking my time and what not?
thx for all the helpful info you can give me.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: I planning to get a 2007 Honda S2000 with love miles(under 10K) are they reliable?
I planning to get a 2007 S2k with less than 10Kmiles. I was wondering are they reliable. What should i look out for and what are your opinons on this car thanks!

A: The S2000 Model Year 06 and MY07 are identical except for 2 new colors for 07. They did not change much in the past 8 years.
The Honda is arguably THE most reliable car company. CNN says that the S2000 ranks as one of the most reliable sportscars (link below)

There aren’t too many things you can look out for for such low miles, but at the very least would be 1 or 2 fluid changes (oil, tranny, differential) lots of performance modifications (exhaust, intake, etc) or if it had any in the past. This may show that the car was driven hard. Although the S2k was built to be driven, this wouldn’t hurt to know. besides that, you can’t go wrong with an S2k with less than 10k miles!

I am biased because I own an S2000. Mine is a 2002 with 115,000 miles. I had it dyno tested at 103,000 miles and it has the same power output as it did when new. So far, motor reliability is not an issue, nor is anything else with the roadster. The S2000, NSX, insight are all installed in Japan, mostly by hand (link below)

Here’s more info that would help you feel at ease about the quality of the S2000 in any year. (ESPECIALLY with less than 10k “love” miles -
From wikipedia:
* The S2000 was on Car and Driver’s Ten Best list for 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004.
* The S2000 was the highest-ranked model in the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study “Premium Sports Car” class for 2004 and 2006, and has consistently held one of the top three positions.
* The S2000 ranked number #1 in the BBC Top Gear survey in 2004, 2005, and 2006. (LINK BELOW)

Q: How much would a 2001 honda s2000 cost by next summer?
Not in perfect condition, something to work on for a while then drive it for high school

A: between $11,000-$15,000. insurance for a high school kid, sports car, convertible, about $350-$400/month
