Q: How do I get refrigerant for 1990 Honda civic?
I have a 1990 honda civic dx. The refrigerant ran out and I’m just wondering how I get new refrigerant in. Where can I get it? Or how can I convert a certain type to match whatever they used to use in older hondas? Thanks.

A: Ebay

Q: I hav a 1988 Honda Civic and I want to make it into a good looking car that is fast what should I do first?
I wanna get my 88 Honda civic to be a fast and good looking car, but idk wut to start doing first, if you could give me an idea with maybe some prices that would be great.

A: 300 Shot.

Q: Why is it so hard to find a Honda Civic with Electronic Stability Control?
I am looking to buy a 2008 or 2009 used 4 door Honda Civic, with auto transmission and electronic stability control. There are thousands of these, except none of them have electronic stability control. Why is this? And does anyone know where I can find one that does have it? Thanks!

A: 2008 Only available in the Si(6 speed manual transmission)

2009 In the Si(6 speed manual transmission), Hybrid(CVT) and EX-l only(automatic or manual)

If you really need the automatic transmission you will have to go to 2009 and get the Hybrid or the EX-L Civic.

Q: How to check for a blown head gasket in a 1994 Honda Civic?
My 1994 Honda Civic is overheating and I need to check for a blown head gasket. How do i do this? There is no water in the oil. We have replaced the thermostat and the timing belt recently.

A: Fill the cooling system with clean water and start the engine with the cap off.Leave it ticking over and observe the filler neck.If you see large air bubbles in the water then it a tell tail sign that compression is entering the cooling system? If the gasket is blown, then eventually the engine will start to throw the water out of the filler neck big time.Hope this helps

Q: How many miles in the life of a Honda Civic?
I know many Toyota’s have a life expectancy of around 600,000 miles if well maintained. How does the Honda Civic stack up?

A: Yes. Honda is more reliable than Toyota.

Any car of maintained could get 600,000 miles.
I have seen a VW Scirocco with over 600,000 miles and even a Ford Police car with 402,000 miles. And Ford is supposed to be the worst in reliability.

Honda’s and Toyota’s are the type of cars that easily last 200,000 miles if you don’t take care of them.

Accelerating fast also decreases the life of the car.

Q: How difficuilt is it to install a muffler on a 1994 honda civic?
I have a 1994 honda civic coupe. I am looking into buying a muffler off of ebay, but was wandering if I will need to purchase any more parts, and how difficuilt is the installation?

A: You could take it to a muffler shop or a weld shop and they could weld one on for you.

Or you could also buy a replacement muffler and you’d have to unbolt the pipes underneath your car and bolt the new one in. There are these little rubber things that hold the hold thing suspended on the bottom. The only worry is that sometimes the bolts on the exhaust pipes get stuck really bad because of the intense heat they can be subjected to. I’d say get under your car and check the bolts, they should be near the rear wheels, to see if they will come loose. Chances are they should. If they will then I’d buy a new muffler and put it on yourself if you can find one. Both ways will cost you about the same but if you do it yourself at least you’ll know the quality job you had done. At a shop you will never know how good of a job they did.

Overall, swapping the muffler out is really simple so if you can find the muffler for your car, which is the hardest part, I’d say just do it yourself. Good luck!

Q: Will my honda civic fail inspection if i add some aftermarket parts?
by parts i mean if i take out the stock air intake system and put in an aftermarket cold air intake. also if i replace the stock exhaust with an exhaust system(catback). and would it matter if the car has a low body kit or not?(i cant see why a body kit would be a problem) its a 1997 honda civic DX coupe .

A: As far as intake and exhaust, they pretty much are all legal. Make sure whatever you get has a CA smog number. Even if you dont live in CA, if its CA compliant you won have any trouble passing smog because CA has the highest smog restrictions.

Q: Can you added any honda civic wheel locks to a 99 honda civic?
My car is a 99 honda civic ex and my tire lock was lost when I went to get a tire rotation and I can get reinburse but I have to get a new tire lock, can I get any age of honda civic wheel lock or does it have to be from 1999. Thanks in advance.

A: i think it has to be from the same year.

Q: Is possible to use and ignition off a honda civic for a 90-93 Acura Integra?
I’m looking for a 90-93 acura integra ignition for cheap but can’t seem to find one for cheap not even on ebay. So i ask, is possible to use and ignition off a honda civic? What years would i be able to use? Any other useful tips?

A: its possible, the 90-93 integra is very similar to the EF style civic, i have parts, such as my short shifter, that fit onto an integra, EF style civic, and a CRX, ive heard of people putting integra Dash boards in civics and vice versa, im sure though for the most part it should be a direct bolt in repair, buy one from a junk yard for like 20 bucks and see if it works so your not wasting big money on a brand new one

Q: What does it cost to repair a exhaust resonator for a Honda Civic?
Looks like I have to get it all replaced. I wanted to check to see if I was getting a fair price. More specifically it’s a 1998 Honda Civic.
Current Quote $595.00
Reason for repair; car is extremely loud.

A: Call a few different muffler shops around your area and ask for a quote, that is gonna be your best bet.

Q: Is a Honda Civic really the best car to learn how to drive a standard in?
I’m 17 years old, and I’ve been wanting to learn how to drive a manual transmission since I started driving (a little over a year).
And I heard that the best car to learn in is a Honda Civic.
Is that true?
If so, what model and year would be the best?
Or does it matter?

Thank you. 10 points to best answer!

A: lol don’t listen to answer #2, I too have wanted to learn how to drive stick because my bf does. Um, I’ve tried in a 94 civic, it’s just as hard as any other, just trying to get it out of first though, lol. Butttt, I think hondas are a great car! I just went from a ford to a honda accord, ittts so much better! & gooooood gas mileage

Q: How much will new shocks and struts cost for my 1996 Honda Civic?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic that rides rough. It has 130K miles and the shocks & struts have never been replaced. I live in Washington DC. How much will parts & labor cost?

A: About $900 to replace all 4 and get an alignment.

Q: How much boost can i put on a honda civic?
I got a 1994 honda civic ex with a d16z6, I got like 3 piece design metal head gasket from Fel-Pro. That is the only thing i up graded on it, so how much boost do you thinks is safe to put on.

A: hey friend the first guy doesnt know what he’s talking about. You CAN boost anything with stock interals as long as boost is kept at 7lbs or lower and you have it tuned properly. You can run cars like that well over 100xxx. Back to ur question the d16 isnt made for boost so 5lbs tops but if ur gonna boost it u’ll wanna play with it. I will say the first time you exceed rec. boost levels u’ll bend the hell out a valve. just think ur engine is 1600cc and ur trying to cram a ton more air in fuel in there and if ur parts arent able to handle it BANG….gameover. Good luck and happy tuning.

Q: How do I get my Honda Civic ready for winter?
I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic that until now hasn’t been operated outside of Texas and California. I live in Chicago. How do I get it ready for winter?

A: Nothing really, the only thing I can suggest (lived in Connecticut for 20 years) is getting an ice scraper, a small shovel and some spare cable in case you end up getting stuck in snow.

When you leave your car in the snow for a while use the ice scraper (which should have a brush on it) to remove snow and ice off the windows, lights, and wheel-wells of your car.

Good luck and safe traveling!
