I would like to know would a Dodge Neon SRT-4 engine work with an automatic transmission.I was told by another mechanic that it will work.I bought a 2002 Dodge Neon basic model just the body and its in good condition from the Junkyard.Do I need to buy a high performance automatic transmission for this engine.I have the Dodge Neon SRT-4 Engine hanging on the engine jack ready for installation.

A: my sons car RF tie rod broke off at the ball joint, bought one for 26bucks at parts store , with common tools we had it fixed in a hour, I’ve done this before, if you have no talent or tools , the shop will charge you $65 to look at the problem, and $65 a hr. times 2 to repair, plus the parts at there cost , then charge you for a front end alignment ,my guess is somewhere in the ballpark of $250, the new tie rods come with zert grease fittings , get it fix and keep them greased, ad void pot holes,
Q: How do you change the light on the trunk on a dodge neon?
I have an 2001 dodge neon and the the brake light that is located in the middle of the trunk lid is out. I have the bulb and everything i just can’t figure out how to get it in there.
A: well open the trunk and look up at the wire that is there that is what u need. once u have located that twist the plastic holder and u will now have the socket in ur hand now take out old light and replace with ner bulb, preferably led buld will last much longer, repeat steps and ur done, good luck to you

Can you pry the 1997 dodge neon headlights apart? Mine are a bit foggy and dirty on the inside of the lenses and i would like to make them clear. I see the brackets to take them apart, but i don’t wanna break them if their not meant to be taken apart.
A: Negative, it will be more trouble than its worth. You are just better off getting some new ones off ebay or something.

A: no its too old…..buy an after market radio with aux option built in or you can buy a radio ipod transmitter it works through your fm radi, Thats probably better for your buck.
Q: How many miles are people getting out of their Dodge Neon’s?
I am thinking about buying a 95 Dodge neon from a friend at a real good price. It is real clean but has about 116,000 miles on it. Even at a steal I don’t need another headache that will leave my wife and kid stranded. So I am wondering what kind of miles people are getting out of these things.
A: Neon is a great car, not the prettiest, but very reliable. I have had 2 Neons both were used my 95 had 247,000km (153,000 miles) on it when i bought it and 367,000 km (228,000 miles) on it when i sold it, it was still running great you just have to keep up with the maintenance. Do oil changes, replace brakes, etc. etc. These little cars are very cheap to get parts for too, you can get new brake pads for all 4 corners for under $60.00
Very dirt cheap car, my 98 has 352,000km (218,000 miles) and still runs like a top.
my 95:
- replaced alternator once
- new spark pugs 3 times
- new plug wires 2 times
- new tires 3 times
- new cat converter once
- brake pads 2 times
- brake rotors once
- brake drums once
- new muffler and pipe once
- numerous oil changes and air filters
I estimate i spent under $2000 on all of my maintenance costs (including oil changes)
just give the car what it wants; and it will give you what you want:

extra note: I live in Canada, I don’t park my cars in a garage and i don’t use Synthetic oil as it costs 3 times more than reg oil.
Q: How do you replace the Thermostat on a 2001 dodge neon?
I need to replace the thermostat on my 2001 dodge neon. I took it to the shop and that said that something I cant remember needs to be flushed but the thermostat needs to be replaced.
A: they was probably talking about the heater core needing flushed out on it and the thermostat you follow the top radiator hose down to the engine to change it out,when you have it done or do it yourself you need to flush out the entire cooling system to get good heat back in it,good luck.

A: 17’s are the biggest you can go without having to do some modifications. Keep in mind that is assuming that you have not lowered the car. If you have lowered the car, then 16’s will be as big as you can go.

Q: What is an estimated price on a transmission for a 2004 Dodge Neon?
I am looking into buying a 2004 Dodge Neon for $1800. The only problem is, it needs a new transmission. What is the price range for a transmission for this car?
A: u can get one at a junk yard kind of cheap but maybe the transmission can be fixed by makeing band adjustments or fixing the switches connected to it because it shifts according to the computer/PCM power control which means the electric shitches that control the solinoids and torque converter need to be ok and they are a easy fix just find the switch and unscrew it and put another in.
Q: How do you take a rear bumper off of a 2005 Dodge Neon?
Hello, I’m trying to remove the rear bumper off of a 2005 Dodge Neon and have no clue on how to take it off. I have a plastic dent in the back and if I take if off, I may be able to push it back out. Anyone know how I can either take the bumper off or fix the dent? Thanks.
A: Every thing is bolted from the back of it……..If you get up under it you will find the bolts…….The bumper support is pretty easy too….But, if all you are worried about is a dent the all you need is the cover…….Just fallow the outside all the way around and you’ll find the screws …..It’s easy…….I have to fix mine every time someone hits me in a race……..I have a 99′ neon but 95′-99′ Neon’s are all 1st generation Neon……..Hope This Helps………Good luck……

I have developed a terrible low speed miss and backfire in my 2001 Dodge Neon. It just had new plugs and wires installed less than 3,000 miles ago, so I thought I would try changing the fuel filter.
A: There is no fuel filter on a 2001 Neon. Look it up on parts.com see no listing for a filter.
